OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-ae0000 (99S57AV)

I bought the Omen 16 on sep/2025 I couldn't limit the battery charge to 80% as it is a gaming laptop it is connected to the charger 24hrs and heated on heavy gaming so I tried to set the battery limit as 80% I searched around internet I couldn't find it out for omen 16 variant, so I manually searched for it only I could find the adaptive charging in the bios but it is enabled but my battery is still charging to 100%. so how could I save my battery health as it is one of the top model features loaded laptop in 2025. The HP have to include this feature in this laptop too. My product

You're very welcome.

The only suggestion I can offer is after you are finished using the notebook, unplug it from the wall socket and the battery will slowly discharge until you need to plug it in again.

That way the battery should never remain at a 100% charge level.

HP consumer class notebooks do not support limiting the battery charge to 80%.

Only some higher end business class notebooks currently support that option.

See this link for how to get the most life out of your notebook's battery:

I don't recommend leaving the notebook plugged into A/C power 24/7/365 with the battery in a constant 100% charge state or that may lead to battery swelling.

Thank you so much Paul. But as it is a gaming laptop I used this for gaming and doing some  animation works in blender. So without connecting it to a AC supply it couldn't withstand the task . In blender without connecting to charger blender is crashing in playback and even in games it gives only 30fps in higher graphics without charger and it goes to 20 or 10 in heavy gaming. As it has a rtx 4070 with 120w tgp without charger it performance is like a lower end device. So we can't works on lagging while paying higher for this product.

Is there is any way to protect the battery health?

As I work without connecting to AC supply for a day it requires 9 or 10 to chargers it and it make the charging cycle worst in longer terms and minimum for a day I works for 12 to 14 hours on blender

Once's again thanks for your suggestion and I think hp should work on it to bring the buisness class notebook battery limits to the gaming user class notebook. Otherwise it is a hp another stategy to push the user to buy a new battery faster.

And thanks paul

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

I 100% agree with you that HP should include that feature on most notebooks-especially gaming notebooks.

It's probably more important to have that feature on your notebook then it is to have it on a business notebook where some folks only use it for light duty business applications.

I have the Omen 16 slim and also had a bit of a hard time finding it. It's in the HP app. Not the Omen app, not the HP Support Assistant app, not the HP Diagnosic app. Just "HP" app, it takes a minute to scan and load all the modules but you will get a battery manager section and you can set it there. By the way, at least on my model the power supply cant even keep up and the battery drains under gaming loads slowly (by design, there is a slider to allow the battery to drain more in OMEN, so they can use a cheaper PSU), so I turned this off.
