I was using my laptop and it got shut down at 8% automatically, so is it normal?

That could be default on your machine BUT you can set higher or lower % . If you go into Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Power Options / Edit Plan Settings and then click on "Change advanced power settings" you can edit this percentage. 

 

You can change many options from
