Dear HP Technical Support Team,

I am writing to inquire about the functionality of the HP Battery Health Manager (BHM) on my laptop.

Device Details:

  • Model: HP ProBook 455 G7 Notebook PC (5CD140105T)

  • Operating System: [Windows 11 Pro24H2]

  • Current BIOS Version: [BIOS Version/Date HP S79 Ver. 01.22.00, 6/25/2025

Issue Description:

I have enabled the Maximize my battery health setting in the BIOS to limit the battery's charge level and extend its lifespan.

  • Expected Behavior: With this setting active, I expect the battery to stop charging at approximately 80% (or show a limited charge percentage in the Windows system tray).

  • Actual Behavior: The battery continues to charge to, and display, 100% in the Windows system tray and in HP Support Assistant. It does not appear to be limiting the charge as expected for the "Maximize my battery health" setting.

Steps I Have Already Taken:

  1. I have confirmed I am running the latest BIOS version available for my ProBook 455 G7.

  2. I have entered the BIOS and confirmed the Battery Health Manager is set to Maximize my battery health.

Hello @azzeddine1 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for all the details you have provided.

On the HP ProBook 455 G7, Battery Health Manager operates using an adaptive charging algorithm, not a hard charge limit.

When Maximize my battery health is enabled:

The system may still display and charge to 100% in:

Windows system tray

HP Support Assistant

Internally, the BIOS and embedded controller:

Reduce charging voltage

Adjust charge current

Minimize time spent at high voltage

Apply thermal and usage-based charging optimizations

This means:

Battery longevity protection is active

No visible percentage limit is shown

There is no fault with the battery, BIOS, or OS.

The system is operating as designed. The HP ProBook 455 G7 does not support a visible or fixed charge cap when Battery Health Manager is set to “Maximize my battery health.” Battery protection is applied internally via adaptive charging algorithms, and no further action is required. Hope this helps!

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
