Hello everyone, for about two months now I've been getting error 0xA00F4244 and the camera on my laptop isn't working, which is really stressful! I think it stopped working after the BIOS was updated, but I'm not entirely sure.
But this problem has been going on for two months now. I contacted Microsoft, and they remotely checked and recovered Windows 11 Home, but it still doesn't work. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi @LEONARDO78,

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop and the issue where the camera shows error 0xA00F4244 (No cameras are found) even after a Windows recovery and BIOS update. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the camera privacy shutter
– Make sure the physical shutter (small slider on the top bezel) is fully open.
– If your model has a keyboard privacy key (usually F8 or F10), press it once to toggle the camera back on.

Confirm the camera is detected in Device Manager
– Open Device Manager → expand Cameras or Imaging devices.
– If the camera is missing completely, it means Windows cannot detect the hardware.

Show hidden devices
– In Device Manager → View → Show hidden devices.
– If the camera appears greyed out, right-click → Uninstall → Restart the laptop.

Check BIOS camera privacy settings
– Restart → press Esc → F10 for BIOS.
– Under System Configuration or Security, make sure the Integrated Camera is enabled.
– BIOS updates sometimes turn this off.

Perform a BIOS rollback
– Restart → press Esc → F2 for Diagnostics → Firmware Management.
– If “Restore Previous BIOS” is available, select it.
– This helps if the camera stopped working right after a BIOS update.

Reset the Embedded Controller (EC)
– Shut the laptop down → unplug charger.
– Hold the power button for 15 seconds → reconnect power → turn it on.
– This resets hardware communication between the camera module and the motherboard.

I hope this helps.
