Hi @sivaragu,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is plugged in but not charging, it can be caused by several factors. Here's a list of troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check the Power Outlet:

  • Ensure the power outlet is functioning correctly by plugging in another device to confirm it provides power.

Inspect the Charging Cable and Adapter:

  • Look for any physical damage or fraying on the charging cable.
  • Make sure the adapter is not damaged and securely plugged into both the outlet and your laptop.

Check the Charging Port:

  • Inspect the charging port on your laptop for any debris or damage.
  • Ensure the charger is fully inserted into the port.

Test with Another Charger:

  • If you have access to another compatible charger, try using it to see if the issue persists.

Restart the Laptop:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can reset the charging mechanism.

Check Battery Health:

  • Windows: Go to Settings > System > Battery > Battery health to check if your battery health is degraded.
  • HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant tool to run a battery check.

Update Battery Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button) and expand Batteries.
  • Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Update driver.
  • Restart your laptop after the update.

Reset the Battery:

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Remove the battery (if removable) and charger, then hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery, plug in the charger, and power on the laptop.

Check for BIOS Updates:

  • Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve charging issues. Check HP's website for any available BIOS updates for your laptop model.

Battery Calibration:

  • Fully charge the laptop, then use it until it completely discharges and turns off. Recharge it fully again to recalibrate the battery.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi,

I visited the HP dealer to check the issue and found out that the charger is faulty. Please send a technician to inspect and replace it, as my device is still under warranty. I appreciate your prompt response.

Thank you.
