Hi @smartvirj,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP laptops use a combination of keys to enable or disable the Scroll Lock function. If you are experiencing issues with Scroll Lock accidentally being activated and want to permanently disable it, follow these steps.

Check if Scroll Lock is really the issue: Make sure that Scroll Lock is causing the problem. Sometimes, certain software or applications may behave unexpectedly, and the issue might not be related to Scroll Lock.

Use the "Fn" key combination: Some HP laptops use the "Fn" key in combination with other keys to enable or disable Scroll Lock. To try this, press and hold the "Fn" key (usually located in the lower-left corner of the keyboard) and then press the "Num Lock" or "F12" key (which may have an icon that resembles a padlock with a number inside it).

BIOS settings: In some cases, you may be able to disable Scroll Lock through the BIOS settings. Here's how:

a. Restart your HP laptop and repeatedly press the appropriate key (often "F2," "F10," or "Esc") to access the BIOS during boot-up.

b. Look for an option related to "Scroll Lock" or "Keyboard" settings.

c. If you find the Scroll Lock option, disable it, and then save and exit the BIOS.

Remember that BIOS settings can vary depending on your laptop model and BIOS version. Always be cautious when changing BIOS settings, as it can affect the functionality of your laptop if not done correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
