I don't know the age of your laptop, but over time, it is going to fill up with working files from the Windows Updates that get applied every week and the Feature Updates that get applied every six months. When it gets down to a few percent of free space, it is going to run out of room for buffers and working files and will slow down a lot. So, a first thing to try is using the utilities lined below to free up disk space:
