Any documentation available regarding the binaries bundled with myHP?

I believe the screenshot speaks for itself. Whenever the app starts or any menu/option is pressed, it spikes to a minimum of 20% CPU usage and freezes up for long periods even in performance mode.

I use the app solely for power modes as nothing else seems to work for fan control, including Windows power settings.

It can take minutes to get to the point where you can even click on an option, and then another minute for it to apply the setting after it's been pressed. The old app had these issues too.

Would very much appreciate it if someone could provide documentation for the binaries (specifically the one/s handling the power modes) within the install directory of the app so I could set up a powershell script for it instead, because this has been driving me crazy.

Hi @Eyoldaith,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out, and I appreciate your detailed analysis and the screenshot — that speaks volumes. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing such high CPU usage and freezing issues with the MyHP application. I can understand how frustrating it is when you're simply trying to adjust your device’s power mode and the software becomes a barrier rather than a tool.

Request to try the Recommended Workaround for Power Mode Switching:

If you’re primarily looking to quickly switch between power modes, you may consider using Windows’ built-in PowerCfg tool as a lightweight alternative:

powercfg /list
powercfg /setactive <GUID>

This method is officially supported and doesn’t rely on third-party tools or background services.

However, features such as fan curve adjustment, thermal performance tuning, or HP Smart Sense profiles are currently accessible only through MyHP, where available, as they rely on HP’s firmware-layer integration.

Thank you again for sharing your experience in such detail — we truly value feedback like yours. I’ll make sure this gets passed on to the relevant team internally.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
