HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-aa0000 (7M3L2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

From the beginning, I chose the Balanced option (under Control System) in the myHP app because the fan is always running in Smart Sense.
Yet, with every restart, the system ALWAYS reverts to Smart Sense, which is really frustrating, forcing me to go into the option and change it.
Since I bought the laptop, there have been several updates to the app, the BIOS, the operating system, etc., but the error persists.

You can also log in to the myHP app, but that doesn't change the error.

What can I do to stop this from happening?

Hi @Shian_ibz,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Spectre x360 automatically reverting back to Smart Sense!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Update the MyHP App:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the MyHP app installed. Updates may include bug fixes that address settings not being saved.

Check for System Updates:

  • Make sure Windows 11 is up to date. Navigate to Settings > Windows Update, and check for pending updates.

Verify BIOS Settings:

  • Sometimes, BIOS settings can affect fan behavior. Restart your laptop and press F10 during boot to access the BIOS. Check for any settings related to fan control or thermal management and ensure they align with your preferences.

Reset MyHP App Preferences:

  • Open the MyHP app, and navigate to the fan settings. Set your desired preference again, and make sure to save the changes. Sometimes resetting an app’s preferences can fix persistent issues.

Reinstall MyHP App:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the MyHP app from the Microsoft Store to ensure no app corruption is causing the issue.

Check Power Plan Settings:

  • It’s worth checking the Windows Power Options settings to ensure they are correctly configured for the Balanced plan. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.

Driver and BIOS Updates:

  • Make sure all drivers, particularly those related to the system fan and motherboard, are updated. Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your model.

I hope this helps.
