Hello,
Regardless of whether I set Balanced, Performance or Energy Saver in the myHP control panel settings, after a restart the fan in the notebook goes on as soon as I lift it up and off again when I put it down, as described in this Smart Sense. Only when I open myHP and just click on the system control settings without changing anything does the fan go off immediately. This is also independent of the operating system. This was with the pre-installed Windows 11, as well as with a freshly installed Windows 11. The drivers are all up to date. It seems that the fan settings are not saved. Can you help me, the notebook is not usable for me.

Hi @sunshine345,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue with your myHP control panel settings not being saved after a restart and the fan behavior you're experiencing can be due to a number of factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve this issue:
1. Update BIOS and Drivers
Ensure that your BIOS and all drivers are up to date. Sometimes the fan control and power management settings are managed at the BIOS level.
Update BIOS:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter your notebook model number and download the latest BIOS update.
- Follow the instructions to update your BIOS.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that all drivers, especially the chipset and thermal drivers, are up to date.
- Use the HP Support Assistant or manually download and install the latest drivers from the HP website.
2. Reset BIOS Settings
Resetting the BIOS to default settings can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.
- Enter BIOS:
- Restart your computer and press the key (usually F10 or Esc) to enter the BIOS setup.
- Reset to Default:
- Look for an option to reset to default settings or load setup defaults.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS setup.
3. Check Windows Power Settings
Ensure that Windows power settings are configured correctly and not conflicting with the myHP settings.
Open Power Options:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Power Options.:
- Choose the power plan that you prefer (Balanced, High Performance, or Power Saver).
Change Advanced Power Settings:
- Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Ensure that the settings for Processor power management and System cooling policy are set according to your preferences.
4. Reinstall myHP Software
Reinstalling the myHP software can ensure that it is correctly configured and free of corruption.
Uninstall myHP:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.Find myHP software and uninstall it.
Reinstall myHP:
- Download the latest version of myHP from the HP website or use the HP Support Assistant to reinstall it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello,
The Windows updates, the drivers and also the BIOS are up to date. I have already reinstalled the HP app, as well as the entire Windows. I have checked the power settings and they match the settings in myHP.
None of this solved the problem.

Well, I got my replacement unit and the problem is still present. I can't believe no one noticed this very annoying problem before me. If I could somehow contact their software development team and talk to someone that has actually some knowledge, this would be pretty easy to fix. HP's support is the worst I have ever experienced! I have tried to resolve this issue but all they want to do is replace the laptop again. I've tried to explain that it's not a hardware problem, but their support is just a bunch of incompetent Indian call center agents with no technical knowledge whatsoever! I have given up trying and can only warn anyone not to buy the 4050 version of this device if you are NOT going to use it on a solid surface all the time. Otherwise the fan will immediately go up to 3500 rpm.
