Hi @andrewbg,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the Num Lock key on your Victus by HP 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop 15-FA1000 is not working, preventing you from using the number keys on the right side of the keyboard, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

Toggle Num Lock Key: Sometimes, simply pressing the Num Lock key again can resolve the issue if it was accidentally deactivated.

Restart Your Laptop: Restarting your laptop can fix many issues, including keyboard-related ones.

Check Keyboard Settings in BIOS: Enter the BIOS settings during startup (usually by pressing F10, F2, or Del, depending on your laptop model) and look for an option related to the Num Lock status at startup. Ensure it is set to be active or enabled.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Expand the "Keyboards" section, right-click on your keyboard, and select "Update driver" to check for updates. If that doesn’t help, you can try to "Uninstall device". Then, restart your laptop, which will automatically reinstall the keyboard drivers.

Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, a Windows update might contain fixes for hardware issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates.

Use the On-Screen Keyboard: As a temporary solution, you can use the On-Screen Keyboard in Windows to access the numeric keys. You can find it by searching for "On-Screen Keyboard" in the Start menu.

External Keyboard: If you urgently need to use the numeric keys, consider using an external USB keyboard until you resolve the issue with your laptop’s keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
