Hi @rajesh0710,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Omen 16 laptop is no longer showing the Num Lock on-screen icon, and instead a textbox appears when toggling it. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the HP Hotkey Support service

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Go to the Startup tab and check if HP Hotkey Support or HP System Event Utility is enabled.

If it’s disabled, right-click and choose Enable, then restart your laptop.

Reinstall HP Hotkey Support software

Open the Run box (Windows + R) and type appwiz.cpl, then press Enter.

Uninstall any existing HP Hotkey Support or HP System Event Utility software.

Visit HP’s official support website, enter your laptop’s model number, and download the latest version of HP Hotkey Support.

Install it and restart the system to check if the icon appears again.

Reset On-Screen Display settings

If the icon still shows as a textbox, it may be due to the OSD mode setting.

Reinstalling HP Hotkey Support usually resets this to the default icon display.

After reinstalling, press the Num Lock key again to verify if the classic overlay icon returns.

Check for recent Omen Gaming Hub updates

Updates from Omen Gaming Hub can sometimes override the OSD feature.

If the issue started after an update, reinstall HP Hotkey Support once more after the Gaming Hub update to restore the original overlay.

I hope this helps.
