how do i limit my charge to 80% of full charge. I cannot see a means to do it using f10 on the bios

Only select HP business notebooks have that feature.

 

Some consumer class notebooks may have a battery optimizer setting which helps prolong the life of the battery.

 

See this link for how to get the most life out of your notebook's battery.

One thing I suggest is to make sure you don't leave the PC plugged into A/C power 24/7/365 with the battery in a constant 100% charge state or that may lead to battery swelling.
