The orange light on my touch pad will not turnoff but the pointer still works. I switch back a nd forth using a mouse and my touchpad  but prefer to not see the orange light on my touchpad. How do I get the light to turn off? I have already tried tapping in the left corner of the touch pad and nothing happens. It is still on. Please advise an option to help with this issue.

Thanks.

Hi @mp66

I reviewed your post and I understand that the orange light on the touchpad is not turning off.

I’d love to help!

I recommend you to double tap on the orange light and check whether it goes off.

If the issue persists, Uninstall the touchpad driver and install it and this should do the trick.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

Hello,

Thank you for your help and responding to my issue with the orange light on my touch pad. I saw the option to do an update for my touch pad driver so I actually did an update for my touchpad driver software instead of uninstalling and reinstalling the touchpad driver software and  that helped to solve the problem with the orange light remaining on. Once, the update was complete and my computer did a restart  and the orange light went off and my touch pad is working fine without the orange light remaning on.

Took me almost as long to get reply to work in this forum as it did to fix the LED situation....

Windows 8.1 generic driver gets updated and forces the LED on as part of an incorrect bit setting. I was able to fix this by downloading the synaptics driver from HP support using the serial number of the laptop.

All 3 laptops now have dark leds.

Was extremely frustrating as I tried EVERY method, including a full reset of windows.

Hope this helps someone out there. Good Luck.
