Hi @Irfan38,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a driver compatibility issue with your AMD graphics driver on the Victus by HP 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop. When updating to the latest driver version, if you're encountering problems such as the inability to adjust screen brightness, there are several steps you can take to resolve this issue.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

Uninstall Current Graphics Driver:

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display adapters, right-click on your AMD graphics driver, and select Uninstall device.
  • Check the box for "Delete the driver software for this device" and click Uninstall.
  • Restart your laptop.

Download the Driver from AMD's Website:

  • Go to the AMD Driver and Support page.
  • Use the auto-detect tool or manually select your graphics card model to download the latest driver.
  • Ensure that you download the correct driver for your specific GPU model.

Install the Downloaded Driver:

  • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

Adjusting Brightness Issue:

  • If the brightness adjustment issue persists after updating the driver, try the following:
    • Rollback Driver:
      • Go to Device Manager > Display adapters.
      • Right-click on your AMD graphics driver and select Properties.
      • Under the Driver tab, click Roll Back Driver to revert to the previous version.
    • Update Windows:
      • Ensure that your Windows is fully updated. Sometimes, a pending Windows update can resolve driver compatibility issues.
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
    • Registry Edit:
      • Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
      • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
      • Ensure there is a key named EnableBrightnessControl and set its value to 1. If it doesn't exist, create a new DWORD value and name it EnableBrightnessControl, then set it to 1.
      • Restart your laptop.

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant to check for any specific updates or patches from HP that might address this issue.
  • Open HP Support Assistant and go to Updates > Check for updates and messages.

BIOS Update:

  • Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop model on the HP Support website.
  • Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
