When I want to adjust my brightness using the notebook's key combination Fn-F9 or Fn-F10, I receive the following error:

HP Hotkey UWP Service

Error: HP Software Framework is not installed in the system

Please download and install from the link -

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-sofpaq/cmit/softpaq/CASLSetup.exe

Note: Restart system after installation

Even thought this URL is not valid (not found), I have installed the HP Softpaq Download manager, but then could not determine what has been installed on my computer.  I wasn't prompted to install anything when I ran the Softpaq software.  Searching the online community, there are drivers/software solutions but not for my model number so am hesitant to install them. The error also occurs when I try to mute the microphone (Fn-F8), but the other function (fn) key combos seem to work fine.  I'm thinking it's just a driver or firmware upgrade but don't want to do the scores of updates without knowing what's already installed or how it might effect other components of the computer.  One online solution suggested "https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-probook-470-g3-notebook-pc/7834620/swI...", but again, it's not for this particular model.  The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics show the Fn and f-keys are all functional.  Keyboard and mouse troubleshooting through the HP Support Assistant did not produce any results either.  The system and software (HP and Windows) updates are all current/up-to-date.

After running all the programs mentioned, Windows wanted to install updates when I went to shut down, and the problem was solved upon reboot.  Who knows what I did to make it work, but it's solved!
