Hi,
You could try the following.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter. If windows will load in this mode, from the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and launch System Restore. Pick a restore point at least 24 hours before the log-on issue and then proceed with the restore process. When complete, Windows will reboot as normal so check if you can now log in correctly.
Another option if the above does not help is as follows.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console. Use the arrow keys to select 'Start Using Last Known Good Configuration' and hit enter.
Regards,
DP-K

Start your notebook in Safe Mode and use system restore to restore to a date before this happened.
Press the power button and immediately begin tapping the F8 key.
In the Advanced Boot Options menu that follows choose Safe Mode.
When Windows has booted into Safe Mode click on the start orb and in the Search Programs and files box type in system restore and then press enter.
The System Restore window will appear. Click on Next.
Choose a restore point earlier than when the problem began.
Your PC should be back to normal after the restore has completed.
I recommend that you backup all of your important data to an external disk.
If the issue happens again, now that your data is backed up externally, you can confidently perform a factore image recovery by using the HP recovery Manager. That will return your notebook to the condition it was in when it was delivered to you. After the recovery s complete use the Device Manager to verify that all drivers were installed. There may be drivers and some HP and bundled applications (that were delivered with your notebook) that you need to reinstall, but that can be also done via the recovery manager. With all other applications you will need to install them with the installation media they were delivered with.

I have the same problem recently since last week which happened after windows updates (September, second week).
There were no new programs that I have downloaded or installed recently so how did this happened? Those irritating numerous windows updates?
I did so many systems restore (chosen last month's systems point) and while it worked immediately after the restore, it will go back to the same ""You have been logged on with a temporary profile".
I tried to go back further and it keeps getting the same problem.
I have deleted . the .bak files (using regedit) as recommended by microsoft own website forum and still don't work.
What now? Wipe everything off and start from scratch?
HELP please!
