hp pavillion 14 chromebook
Chrome OS

Question: Is there a new malware for the hp pavillion 14 chromebook that popup's so quickly that the RESET cannot be executed?

Background, my wife clicks on everything, and in the past I depended upon performing the steps to RESET the computer, Settings, Advanced, Reset Settings, Reset.  It always worked.  However, this time she got into something unexpected, the malware popup is immediate and covers the Homescreen, I cannot get to the homescreen. The popup covers it and shades it out and cannot be accessed.  There is an X on the malware screen but it returns immediately. The screen has a telephone number to call and a voice message stating it has been infected and to call the number. We DID NOT call.   Can some kind reader help if there are other options to access the Google Chrome Reset via 'The Cloud'. Anybody? Thanks.

If you can't execute the Powerwash at the log-in screen- or even if it does work- you may want to look into creating a Recovery on usb flash drive. The file is at the Chrome Store.
