The number keys' pad on the right side of HP Laptop is not working. What to do to make it functional?

Hi @NandiniSingh

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP laptop's number pad isn't working, here are a few things to check:

Ensure Num Lock is Enabled

  • Press the Num Lock key to activate the number pad. Some laptops require this to be turned on before the keys function as numbers instead of navigation controls.

Check Accessibility Settings

  • Go to Control PanelEase of AccessChange how your keyboard works.
  • Make sure Mouse Keys is turned off, as this can interfere with the number pad.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers

  • Open Device ManagerKeyboards → Right-click your keyboard → Update driver.
  • If updating doesn’t work, try uninstalling the keyboard driver and restarting your laptop.

Try an External Keyboard

  • If an external keyboard’s number pad works, the issue might be hardware-related rather than software.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityTroubleshootKeyboard and run the troubleshooter.
