Hello community!
My HP Envy fingerprint scanner stoped working, Windows says:
Este dispositivo no funciona correctamente porque Windows no puede cargar los controladores requeridos para dicho dispositivo. (Código 31)
{Operación errónea}
La operación solicitada no se realizó correctamente.
My computer has a Synaptics WBDI Fingerprint Reader - port 102.
Neither Windows nor HP tools can solve or indicate the correct driver to fix the problem.
Can anyone help me?

Hello Sandy.
Before I read your message, I took the following steps that solved the problem:
1) Delete the existing controler in the computer
2) Run a find to identify all components again.
Result: Windows identified the fingerprint reader with the new drivers already installed and the problem did not occur anymore.
Regards,
Francisco.

Welcome to the HP support community.
Updating the fingerprint reader device driver
To update the fingerprint reader device driver:
-
Identify the version of the fingerprint reader device driver currently installed. Open the Device Manager, and then expand the Biometric list of recognized sensor devices.
-
Right-click the device, and then select Properties. Select the Driver tab. The driver version is displayed.
Figure : Sensor driver version
-
To find driver updates for your notebook model, open a web browser and go to hp.com.
-
Select Support & Drivers, and then enter your product number.
-
Select the operating system currently on the computer, scroll down, and then expand Drivers - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices. The fingerprint sensor driver is listed. Note the version number and date.
-
If the driver available on the web site is a later version, download and install it. If the installed driver is the same version, right-click the device driver, and then select Update driver software to refresh the driver.
