Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everyone,

I've got a Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fb0002na, I'm currently able to turn on my laptop with my local network using Wol. However, I'm seeking guidance on how to enable remote wake on lan, allowing me to me to power on my laptop from outside my local network and also I would like to know if my laptop supports the restore after AC power loss feature.

If anyone has experience or knowledge in configuring WoL for remote access, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. Any step by step instructions or recommended resources would be incredibly helpful.

Hi @Vyctorious,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here are general steps you can follow to try setting up Wake On LAN and configuring the laptop to restore after AC power loss.

  • Check hardware and BIOS support: Verify that your Victus Gaming Laptop 15 supports Wake On LAN. Check the laptop's manual or visit HP website to find information about WoL support in your laptop's BIOS.
  • Update BIOS and drivers: Make sure your laptop's BIOS and network drivers are up to date. Manufacturers occasionally release BIOS updates that improve compatibility and add features like WoL.
  • Enable Wake On LAN in BIOS: Reboot your laptop and enter the BIOS settings during the boot process. The key to access BIOS varies depending on the laptop manufacturer, but common keys are Del, F2, F10, or F12. Once in BIOS, navigate to the Power Management or Advanced settings (the exact location might differ depending on the BIOS version) and look for options related to Wake On LAN or Wake On LAN from S5. Enable these options if available.
  • Configure network adapter settings: Check the network adapter settings in your laptop's operating system. Go to the Device Manager (Windows) or Network settings and find your network adapter. Right-click on it and choose Properties. In the Power Management tab, ensure that "Allow this device to wake the computer" and "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" options are enabled.
  • Router configuration: For Wake On LAN to work, you need to forward the WoL packets from the internet to your laptop's local IP address within your home network. This process involves accessing your router's settings and configuring port forwarding.

I hope this helps.
