Hi @george_x,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify File Integrity:
- Ensure the file was fully and successfully downloaded. Sometimes, network interruptions can corrupt the downloaded file.
- Attempt to download the file again from the official HP Drivers page to make sure you have a complete and uncorrupted file.
Check File Permissions:
- Right-click on the downloaded file, select "Properties," and ensure that it is not blocked by Windows. Click "Unblock" if applicable.
Temporarily Disable Antivirus Software:
- Your antivirus software might be preventing the file from unpacking. Temporarily disable the antivirus software, try running the file again, and then re-enable the antivirus after the installation is complete.
Check Available Disk Space:
- Verify that there is enough available disk space on your drive to extract the archive and install the updates or drivers.
Use an Alternative Extraction Program:
- Try using an alternative program to extract the contents of the archive manually (e.g., WinRAR, 7-Zip). This way, you can manually install the driver.
Run as Administrator:
- Right-click on the downloaded file and select "Run as administrator." This can help if there are any permission issues preventing the file from extracting properly.
Check for System Updates:
- Make sure Windows is updated to the latest version, as some system updates might be necessary for the installation files to work correctly.
I hope this helps.
