Hi @maxomini,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the situation, could you provide a few more details?

  • Which HP model and Windows version are you using?
  • Are there any error messages when you check Device Manager?

In the meantime, a few basic troubleshooting steps can often help:

  1. Check Device Manager: See if the touchpad appears under “Mice and other pointing devices.” If it has a yellow warning icon, that usually indicates a driver issue.
  2. Reinstall the Driver: Sometimes downloading the latest driver from HP’s official website and performing a clean install helps. Make sure to uninstall the old driver first.
  3. Enable the Touchpad in Settings: Go to Settings → Devices → Touchpad and make sure it’s turned on. Some laptops also have a function key (like F5 or F7) to toggle the touchpad.
  4. BIOS/UEFI Check: Occasionally the touchpad can be disabled in BIOS. A quick look there can confirm it’s enabled.

5. UEFI Test - Touchpad :

Request you to please follow the below steps for Touchpad:

Step 1: Unit should be in shutdown state.

Step 2: Press the power button and press the 'esc' key repeatedly.

Step 3: Once you are in the Boot menu, Press F2 to enter UEFI.

Step 4: Select COMPONENT TEST and select touchpad.

Step 5: Select and quick test.

Once completed, request you to please share an image of the test result in the chat.

If you can give me the details above, I can guide you step by step to get it working again.

I hope this helps.
