under mouse settings in synaptics pointing device - v19.3.31.31 click pad setting under pointing and smartsense setting smart sense has been turned to off along with 'time after' tabs and pc restarted. before turning off the 'time after' was immidiate response when typing began. After smartsense was set to off 'time after' response increased to about 1 second after typing began.

This might help, although I have seen a few others with this issue recently and have not solved it yet.
Not sure if its a Windows update that's causing this or not.
Give this a try if you are comfortable altering the registry.
First backup the Windows registry before making any changes.
To enter the registry...
From the Start menu, type regedit.exe in the search box, and then press Enter.

Then while in the registry, go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Defaults, and set the value of all string entries (actually the first 3) of PalmKms…, to 0 (the number zero).
