Hi @jimbo213,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 17-e134nr Notebook and needing to create a synaptics touch pad profile that will load to the defaults. The 19.0.19.1 driver version fixes the inability to permanently turn-off the tapping functions on your Notebook. Seeing the defaults are not loaded till the Windows installs the drivers.

Please let me know how this goes.

Thanks.

>

that was not exactly my question

I created a profile named "Jim" and I want to have the HP Laptop load that profile on boot-up AND on return from sleep mode.

- My special profile changes about 7 settings value, not just the "tapping function"

- I already have the driver version loaded that you mention ... and there is no where I can find to make that profile load instead of the "default" profile.

- QUESTION:  Is there a way to make changes to the "default profile" and then save-as "default" profile?

I have not tried that - hesitant to until I hear back from HP.

Thanks, Jim

This reply doesn't answer the question but comes up as the top answer when searching.

I have the same problem with my HP Spectre 360.

How do I get the trackpad settings to persist between sessions?

It's annoying to have to load the profile each time I start up or awake the machine from hibernation.

Welcome to the HP Forums,
I hope you're well 🙂

As I understand the touch/trackpad doesn't store the profile as it resets each time you wake the computer from a hibernation mode,

Don't worry, though, as I have few steps to sort this out:

  • Hold down the Windows key and press R
  • Into the Run, box type Regedit and hit enter
  • In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install
  • Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade
  • If this is present, right-click the key and select Modify
  • Set the Value data field to 0 ( Zero ) and then click Ok.
  • Close the Registry Editor.

Make the Profile setting changes you require in the usual way and save them, then check if they're now retained after a reboot or from waking up the PC from sleep/hibernation mode.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.  If they did, that’s awesome!  Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons, that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.
