@lauren_944, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're seeing a black screen with a message prompting you to update your system diagnostics on your HP Notebook - 15-da0075na, and you're unsure how to proceed. No worries, I'll guide you through the steps to resolve this.
Your notebook is likely prompting you to update the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool, which helps test your hardware components (like memory, hard drive, etc.) outside of Windows.
Steps to Update HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
Visit the Official HP Diagnostics Page
Go to: https://www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup
This link is safe and official, even if it redirects to the US site it works globally.
Download the Latest Version
- Scroll down to “HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows” or “HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI”. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Click Download and save the file.
Install the Update
- Run the downloaded file.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install or update the diagnostics tool.
Restart Your Notebook
After installation, restart your PC. The black screen message should no longer appear.
Optional: Run a Quick Hardware Test
To ensure everything is working fine:
- Turn off your notebook.
- Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly (once every second) until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run a Quick Test to check your system’s health.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
