  • The laptop can sometimes freeze for a second when opening the notification area, Explorer, opening applications or the command line, while the cursor freezes in one place and does not respond to mouse movement. Reinstalled Windows on the second SSD from another laptop, but that didn't help either. Error 13 ACPI occurs in the event log every day. (The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the allotted time period. This may mean an error in the controller, its firmware, or incorrect BIOS access to the controller. It is recommended to contact the computer manufacturer to obtain an updated BIOS version. In some cases, this error can lead to incorrect operation of the computer). The BIOS has recently been updated to version F.10 Rev.A. Also, installing all drivers from the official website does not give results.

Hi @owmez,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken several troubleshooting steps, which is great. Since you've already reinstalled Windows and updated the BIOS, and the issue persists, it might be helpful to try a few additional steps.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that all drivers are up to date, including chipset drivers, graphics drivers, and any other relevant drivers for your hardware components. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause performance issues and conflicts.
  • BIOS Settings: Check if there are any specific BIOS settings related to ACPI or power management that could be causing the issue. Sometimes tweaking these settings can help resolve compatibility issues.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run hardware diagnostics to check for any hardware failures or issues. HP provide diagnostic tools that can help identify any hardware problems.
  • System File Checker: Run the System File Checker tool to scan for and repair any corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as administrator and type "sfc /scannow" and press Enter.
  • Check for Overheating: Ensure that your laptop is not overheating, as overheating can cause performance issues and system freezes. Clean the laptop's vents and fans to remove any dust buildup, and consider using a laptop cooling pad to improve airflow.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for responding.

1. All drivers were installed from the official website on my laptop model. I monitor the release of driver updates almost every day in the hope of a fix.

2. I have not changed anything in the BIOS, all settings have been saved since the purchase of the laptop. Then I will definitely see what can be done there.

3. I started the system diagnostics with HP tools, no problems were detected.

4. Checking system files was also done with standard Windows media. There can be no problems, because there is a similar problem on two different SSDs.

5. There is no overheating, the fans are running at minimum rpm.

This problem has been with the purchase itself, I was even surprised that such a powerful system does not behave stable. There may or may not be delays, and it has not yet been possible to identify a pattern. Previously, the delay consistently appeared when opening the command line, now it does not appear. It looks very much like it's a software bug (hopefully). There are no delays in games, the laptop is working at 100%.
