@brijeshjrf143, Hi there, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

Let's work together to get your HP notebook's touchpad working again. Please try the following steps:

Check if Touchpad is Disabled

Sometimes the touchpad gets disabled accidentally via a keyboard shortcut.

  • Try pressing Fn + F3, F5, or F6 (varies by model) to toggle the touchpad on/off.
  • Look for a touchpad icon on the function keys.

Enable Touchpad in Settings

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Devices > Touchpad.
  3. Make sure Touchpad is turned ON.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Driver

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. Right-click your touchpad (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN, Precision Touchpad) and choose:
    • Update driver → Search automatically.
    • If that doesn’t help, choose Uninstall device, then restart your PC.

You can also use HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and install the correct drivers: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

BIOS Settings Check

Sometimes the touchpad is disabled in BIOS.

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  2. Look for Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  3. Ensure Touchpad is Enabled.
  4. Save and exit.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
