Hi @Goldie24k,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for the detailed description. Based on your experience with the HP Notebook 15-dy1043dx running Windows 11, where the screen flickers or goes black when using the touchpad or wireless mouse, here are a few steps to resolve this issue.

Even though the touchpad or mouse seems to trigger it, the problem is often system-level, not just input-related.

Recommended Fixes

1. Clean Reinstall of Graphics Driver

Even if your driver is up to date, a clean reinstall can remove hidden conflicts.

  • Open Device Manager
  • Expand Display adapters
  • Right-click Intel UHD Graphics > Uninstall device (check “Delete driver software” if available)
  • Restart your laptop
  • Download the latest driver from HP’s official page:

2. Disable Fast Startup

This power setting can conflict with graphics behavior.

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options
  • Click Choose what the power buttons do
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup
  • Save and restart

3. Run HP UEFI Diagnostics

This checks for deeper hardware faults.

  • Shut down the laptop
  • Turn it on and immediately press Esc, then F2
  • Run an Extensive Test for the Display, System Board, and Memory

4. External Monitor Test

Connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI.

  • If the external screen works fine, the issue may be with your internal display cable or panel
  • If both screens flicker, it’s likely a GPU or motherboard issue

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
