Hi @gaurav2151,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Could you share a bit more detail:

  • Did the touchpad stop working suddenly, or after a Windows update/driver change?
  • Does an external USB mouse also fail, or is it only the built‑in touchpad?
  • Do you see any warning icons in Device Manager → Mice and other pointing devices?

 Troubleshooting Steps You Can Try

  • Enable Touchpad: On many HP laptops, pressing Fn + F9 (or a small touchpad icon key) toggles the touchpad on/off. Try pressing it once.
  • Check Settings: Go to Settings → Devices → Touchpad and make sure it’s enabled.
  • Update/Reinstall Drivers: In Device Manager, right‑click the touchpad driver (often listed as “Synaptics” or “ELAN”) → Update driver. If that doesn’t help, uninstall and restart — Windows will reinstall automatically.
  • BIOS Settings: Restart and enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc or F10 at startup). Check if the touchpad is enabled there.
  • Test External Mouse: Plug in a USB mouse. If it works, the issue is isolated to the touchpad. If not, it may be a broader driver or USB controller issue.
  • HP Hardware Diagnostics: Run the built‑in HP UEFI diagnostics to test the touchpad hardware. This will confirm if it’s a hardware fault.
  • Windows Updates: Make sure your system is fully updated, as patches often fix driver conflicts.

If the touchpad still doesn’t respond after these steps, it may be a hardware issue

I hope this helps.
