I have a Pavilion dv4 laptop I purchased years ago on ubid.  I'm trying to find out how old it is.  What numbers do I use?

Hi:

Look at the 4th, 5th and 6th characters of the serial number.

The 4th will be the year of manufacture (0-9)

The 5th and 6th characters are the week of manufacture (01 - 52).

For example, if the 4th, 5th and 6th characters are 012, your notebook was made in 2010, during the 12th week of the year.

It cannot be 2000, or between 2015 & 2020 because the dv4 model series didn't exist in any of those years.
