Hi @JALeo5344

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Got it — you’re seeing u2ser.sys flagged as incompatible with Memory Integrity (Core Isolation), and you’re wondering if it can simply be deleted.

Before we jump into solutions, let’s carefully isolate the situation so we know exactly what we’re dealing with.

Here are the key details I’d like to clarify from you:

1. System & Environment

  • Which Windows version/build are you running (e.g., Windows 10 22H2, Windows 11 23H2)?
  • Is this on an HP system (laptop/desktop), or another brand?
  • Do you have Memory Integrity enabled under Windows Security → Device Security → Core Isolation?

2. Driver Context

  • Did you notice u2ser.sys listed under Incompatible drivers in the Memory Integrity settings?
  • Do you recall if this driver is tied to a specific device (USB-to-serial adapter, printer, scanner, etc.)?
  • Was this driver installed manually (from a vendor CD/website) or automatically via Windows Update?

3. Symptoms

  • Are you experiencing system instability (crashes, BSODs, freezes), or is the issue only that Memory Integrity refuses to turn on?
  • Do you rely on the device that uses this driver, or is it unused/legacy hardware?

4. Goal

  • Is your main priority to enable Memory Integrity for security, or to remove the driver/device entirely if it’s not needed?

The reason I’m probing is that u2ser.sys is often linked to USB-to-serial controller drivers (commonly used for older peripherals). Deleting it outright could break functionality for connected hardware, but if it’s unused, removal might be safe. The right path depends on whether you still need the device and whether updated drivers exist.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
