Welcome to the HP Community --

The actual machine (computer hardware) does not care what you are downloading or installing.

This is perhaps a permission, space, or administrative limitation in Windows.

Windows Update, if pending an installation or computer Restart, can cause oddities in behavior.

Check for Windows Updates > Restart the computer if any updates are installed or pending.

If Windows is not restricting your actions, look to your Browser, your Windows Security software, or Network Firewall security.

What?

Browser security, Windows security, and even your router Firewall will try to protect you from the bad things out on the Internet.  Sometimes these tools are overly enthusiastic.

Security software settings, for example, can generally be set to allow installation of software that you deem to be safe.

---------------------------------------------------

You need to find out why you cannot download apps or software -

First, make sure you are using an account that includes administrator privileges.

What?  If, for example, you are using a child's or standard user account, you cannot install software.

Next,

Make sure you are not running "Windows S Mode" and do have the apps install setting to allow "Install from anywhere"

Reference:  Can't install an app on Windows 11 due to microsoft not allowing installing apps

Lots of other articles and information are available on the 'net --

If the first article did not help, search for something that relates to your situation.

For example,

Open your browser and search for "windows 11 cannot download software"

Most articles are written to be user-friendly.

If you find something you don't understand, move on to the next article.

The Internet is both wonderful and also a dark and scary place.

Be careful - Be Aware - Stay Vigilant

When looking for help...

  • NEVER click on anything that wants you to call a help line.
  • Never click on anything that wants to download "tools" onto your computer.
  • Never click on Chat offers.
  • Never, ever let anyone you don't know into your computer.
  • Never give out your personal information.
  • Do not listen to people who claim your computer is full of bugs - they are likely vermin.
  • Unsure?  Run away.
