HP 15-bs060nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I purchased a laptop HP 15-bs060nd from komplett.ie and I wish to type euro symbols directly from the keybord (no Word short cut or complecated Alt + xxxx number please).

I use numbers a lot and being able to enter the EUro symbol would be great.

On the keyboard layout, I have a Euro Symbol at the bottom right corner of the "5" key, however it does not work.

The layout is Qwerty US  / Qwerty US INternational / or Qwerty Dutch ...not English Ireland/UK ( because the "@"sign is with the key "2", there is no pound sign and the dollar sign is above the "4 also. All of that points to a Qwerty US /US International from my reading. ALso ALL the other keys works wonderfully...except the EUro sign.

What i have tried so far:

Keyboard selected in Setting > Regional & Language > English U.S. (set as default, with language pack installed) > Option ---> Qwerty United States International selected (only one listed). ( also tried Qwery US, in vain)

- if i type fn + key "5", i get 5 and not the Euro symbol

- if i type alt gr + 5 key, i get nothing

I can I type the euro symbol using the key 5 where the symbol is printed on the bottom right corner of the key?

in advance, thanks

by the way Ctrl + Alt + 5 does not work neither.

CTRL + ALT + E does not work neither (which is normal as i have US int set up ..US int should take only ctrl + alt + 5 or alt gr + 5) ....

Alt + 0128 does work well...but i'd prefer to use the key 5 on my keyboard

any idea how i can get altgr + 5 to work?

Hi @mysashimi,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I reviewed your post and understand that the Euro symbol is not working when you type Alt+5.

I’d love to help!

I would like to inform you on a US keyboard layout the Euro symbol will be inserted only with the keyboard shortcut you have mentioned which is Alt + 0128.

If you want to have the Euro symbol with the FN + 5 shortcut, then you need to install the English UK keyboard layout.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Click on the Start Menu. ...
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. Click on Time & language.
  4. Click on Region & language.
  5. Click on the language you wish to add a keyboard layout to.
  6. Click on Options.
  7. Click on Add a keyboard.
  8. Click on the keyboard you want to add and follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

I have just one point. Your keyboard has a £ symbol clearly displayed for the 65 million British users and hidden away somewhere is the euro symbol for the 400 million EU members. Where are your reseachers?
