Hey,

Your D or E drives can disappear for a few reasons. Let's figure out what's going on.

First, right-click on the Start button and go to Disk Management. This shows all your drives even if they're not showing up in File Explorer. Look through the list and see if your D or E drive is there but maybe without a drive letter assigned.

If you see it in Disk Management but it says "Unallocated" or has no letter, right-click on it and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths" then assign it D or E.

If the drive shows up as "Not Initialized" that's a bigger problem, could mean the drive is failing.

If you don't see the drive at all in Disk Management, it might be a hardware issue. Is this an external drive or a second internal drive in your laptop? If it's internal, check Device Manager too. Press Windows key + X and click Device Manager, then look under Disk Drives to see if it shows up there with an error.

What HP model do you have? And were these drives working before or is this a new setup?

I hope this helps.
