My usbc port was working with an external moniter. Then I installed a driver for a new travel printer. After that the usbc port didn't recognize my external monitor anymore. The usbc ports still works with thumb drives. I have tried to refresh the drivers through the device manager with no luck.

Hi @bbrix,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like the installation of the driver for the travel printer may have caused some conflicts with your USB-C port's ability to recognize the external monitor. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Restart your computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve driver conflicts and restore normal functionality.

Check the Device Manager: Open the Device Manager and look for any warning symbols or errors related to your USB-C port, monitor, or the printer driver. If you find any issues, try updating or rolling back the drivers.

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Look for the USB-C port, the monitor, and the printer in the list.
  • Right-click on each and choose "Update driver" or "Roll back driver" if available.

Uninstall the printer driver: If you suspect the printer driver is causing the issue, try uninstalling it.

  • Open the Device Manager.
  • Locate the printer driver under "Print queues" or "USB devices."
  • Right-click and choose "Uninstall device."

System Restore: If the problem started after installing the printer driver, you can use System Restore to revert your system to a previous state.

  • Search for "Create a restore point" in the Windows search bar.
  • In the System Properties window, click on the "System Restore" button and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check USB-C cable and monitor connection: Ensure that the USB-C cable connecting your monitor is functioning correctly. Also, try using a different cable or port if available.

Check monitor compatibility: Confirm that your external monitor is compatible with the USB-C port on your computer. Some monitors may require specific drivers or firmware updates for proper functionality.

Update graphics drivers: Ensure your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP Website and download the latest drivers for your system. Click Here

Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up-to-date by installing the latest Windows updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
