Hi @sumit_28,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Victus laptop's webcam is showing a black screen and the camera light keeps blinking, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.
1. Check Camera Privacy Settings
Ensure that the camera is enabled in the privacy settings:
- Windows 10/11: Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Make sure that camera access is turned on for the device and that apps are allowed to access the camera.
2. Update Camera Drivers
Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause the webcam to malfunction:
- Device Manager: Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager. Find Imaging devices or Cameras, right-click on your webcam, and select Update driver.
- Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.
3. Check for Software Conflicts
Close any other applications that might be using the camera (like Skype, Zoom, etc.) as they could be causing a conflict.
4. Reset Camera App
Resetting the Camera app can sometimes fix issues:
- Settings > Apps > Apps & features: Find the Camera app, select it, and choose Advanced options.
- Click on Reset.
5. Roll Back Camera Driver
If the issue started after a recent update, rolling back the driver might help:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your webcam, choose Properties, and go to the Driver tab.
- Click on Roll Back Driver if the option is available.
6. Check for Windows Updates
Ensure your operating system is up to date:
- Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update: Check for updates and install any that are available.
7. BIOS/UEFI Settings
Sometimes the camera can be disabled at the BIOS/UEFI level:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing Esc, F2, F10, or Del during startup).
- Look for an option related to the camera or imaging devices and ensure it is enabled.
8. Hardware Issue
If none of the software solutions work, the issue might be hardware-related:
- Try using an external USB webcam to determine if the problem is with the built-in camera.
- If the external camera works, the built-in webcam might need to be repaired or replaced.
9. Use HP Support Assistant
HP provides a tool called HP Support Assistant that can help diagnose and fix hardware issues:
- Download and install HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
- Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot the webcam issue.
10. Reinstall Camera Driver
As a last resort, you can try reinstalling the camera driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your webcam and choose Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully fix the issue with your HP Victus laptop's webcam.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
