Hi @charliex0x

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I see that you are trying to install a game using the USB drive and you are getting an error. Do not worry, we are here to help you fix it.

Do let us know,

  1. Is your device connected to any server?
  2. From when are you facing this issue?
  3. Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?
  4. Have you installed any third-party anti-virus software on your device?

If your device is not connected to any server, try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.
Follow the below steps:

  1. Right click on the Start button, click on Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit Enter.
  3. After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Step 2: I suggest you to perform a virus scan using Windows Defender on your device.

Step 3: I suggest you to install all the pending updates on Windows 10.

Steps:

  1. Connect to the internet.
  2. Press Windows key and type updates.
  3. Click on Check for updates.
  4. Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
  5. Try to install the updates being shown.

Try to restart the computer after every step and check if the issue persists.

Step 3:

You may put your system in clean boot state and restart the computer to check if the issue persists.

To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to troubleshoot problems in Windows by performing a clean boot.

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in Step 3 from the above KB article.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
