Hi @daglvo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding slowed down PC!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these simple troubleshooting steps:
Restart Your Laptop
- A quick restart can clear temporary glitches and improve performance.
Check for High CPU & RAM Usage
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Look under Processes → Check if any app is using too much CPU or RAM.
- If a program (like Chrome) is consuming high memory, right-click → End Task.
Clear Browser Cache & Disable Extensions
If using Chrome/Edge/Firefox:
- Open Settings → Go to Privacy & Security.
- Click Clear Browsing Data → Select Cached images and files.
- Disable unnecessary extensions:
- Open Chrome → chrome://extensions/ → Turn off unused extensions.
Check Internet Speed & Connection
- Run a speed test at Speedtest.net.
- Restart your Wi-Fi router if the connection is slow.
- Try using Facebook on another device to see if the issue persists.
Update Graphics Drivers
- Press Win + X → Device Manager.
- Expand Display Adapters.
- Right-click your graphics driver (Intel or NVIDIA) → Update Driver → Search automatically.
Scan for Malware & Background Apps
- Open Windows Security (Win + S → search "Windows Security").
- Click Virus & Threat Protection → Quick Scan.
- Uninstall unwanted background programs:
- Win + X → Apps & Features → Remove unnecessary apps.
Adjust Windows Performance Settings
- Right-click This PC → Properties.
- Click Advanced System Settings.
- Under Performance, click Settings.
- Select Adjust for best performance → Apply.
Update Windows
- Go to Settings → Windows Update.
- Check for and install any pending updates.
Let me know which step worked! 😊
