Still have all the paper work HP sent to me whe I purchased the laptop.  However, even then I wondered why they did not include a Product key to unlock the digital locks.  So I am trying to locate a way to fing the product key, digital key or any other method which might make re-installing your software less of a headache when it will not install. If purchasing another key is the answer, please indicate.  And if some of my proof of purchase paperwork sent to me from the HP store I purchased the PC from might find an answer let me know.

Hi:

Since Windows 8 came out in 2012, Microsoft requires all PC manufacturers to encrypt the Windows product key in the BIOS.

No more product key stickers.  That was done to prevent the transfer of the Windows OEM product key from one PC to another which violated Microsoft's OEM license terms.

So, if you ever need to reinstall Windows, you don't need a product key or even need to know what it is.

However, if you are interested in viewing, printing out and saving the Windows OEM product key for your PC, you can install the free Showkey Plus app from the Microsoft store for that purpose.

If your PC came with Microsoft Office 365, it should have come with a product key to enter, which you should keep in a safe place.
