hi everyone. my laptop has been in assistance and they reset everything. but the backlight button (F5) doesn't work. i think i just need the right driver. tnx!

Download, save and install this driver:
System Event utility

Then try enabling Action Key from BIOS: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02035108

unfortunately didnt' work (i ve just updated to windows 10 btw)  the driver i installed looks too old to help the situation

Did this issue happen after upgrading to Windows 10?

You could try to factory reset using HP Recovery USB.

You can also try reseating keyboard cable if you're comfortable with to see if that is the issue.

nope it happened after it returned from assistance.

Yes, you can ask them to check the issue considering it is not the same as it was earlier.

Mostly it is hardware issue.
