@hindudaily, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Your HP laptop may switch off when unplugged due to a few potential reasons:

Battery Issues: The laptop's battery might be failing or unable to hold a charge. Over time, batteries can degrade, resulting in reduced capacity or inability to power the laptop without being plugged in.

Battery Connection: There could be an issue with the connection between the battery and the laptop, such as loose contacts or corrosion.

Power Settings: The laptop's power settings might be configured to shut down the device when it is unplugged, especially if it is set to conserve battery life.

Driver or Software Issues: Battery or power management software might need an update or a reinstall. Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause improper battery management.

Hardware Fault: A hardware component inside the laptop might be defective or malfunctioning, affecting power management.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Check the Battery: Ensure the battery is properly seated and connected. Also, test the battery health through the HP Support Assistant or similar diagnostics tools.

Update Drivers: Ensure all your drivers, especially the power management and battery drivers, are up-to-date.

Adjust Power Settings: Check the power settings in Control Panel to ensure the laptop is not set to turn off immediately when unplugged.

Test with Another Battery: If possible, test the laptop with another compatible battery to check if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
