Microsoft 365 is free for the first 30 days after you first start it up. Thereafter a monthly subscription is required.
My brother got Office Pro 2019 for $15 a couple of years ago. I still see prices like that on Facebook, Amazon and Ebay. I asked Microsoft about it and was told that if it activates it is legitimate and probably belonged to a large corporation that bought too many copies and is selling off what they were unable to use.
