Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

You can stop the installation process and try once again initiate windows update,

If that fails, Ensure your connection is set to Metered one and download the media creation tool from Microsoft: http://microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Run MediaCreationTool.exe Click Upgrade this PC now Select Keep personal files and apps.

thanks, but nothing is working.  I cannot get into my computer at all.  It is stuck on trying to undo changes and will not let me do anything at all.  I'm going to have to take it somewhere to have it fixed.

Thank you for posting back.

  • What happens when you start the computer?
  • Are you able to see the HP logo?

If it's a software-related issue, no need to ship the unit in for repair, Just by reinstalling the Windows operating system you can fix the issue.

I received a recovery drive from HP however I got this message:

NOT found [C:\Windows\System32\SysPrep\Sysprep_succeeded.tag]

do you know how to fix it by chance?

Hi! @Shell2015,

It looks like the recovery drive you received might be corrupted, so you are getting this error.

Please contact HP and reorder another set of recovery kit.

I ran it again and it worked, then I did the windows upgrade from a USB drive but now I lost my SD card reader.  It's not even listed in device manager.
