Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I am interested in buying "HP Spectre x360 13-ae525TU".

However, it is not sure if I can use my audio interface:

Is it possible to connect this via a Thunderbolt 3 connector of the laptop?

Best,

I think eventually you will have to replace the firewire device with one that is compatible to the current interfaces, such as a USB 3.1 Thunderbolt port, that is available on notebooks.

Whether or not you try an adapter or gender changing cable is up to you. Be aware that the lower bandwidth of the data from and to the firewire device may create a bit of a bottleneck at the faster USB 3.1 Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port.

Your research is bearing fruit, it is just that some of the threads are from 2012.  That was the time of the advent of Thunderbolt ports on some high-end HP notebooks.

You can use a USB 3.1 to firewire adapter as the interface between your notebook and theFireface 800 device.

Perform a Google search with "USB 3.1 to firewire 800" as the keywords as I did.

Thank you for your kind answer.

It works on Apple computers.

My question is if it also works on non-apple computers, and more precisely on the specific model of HP computer.

Theoretically, thunderbolt three must work in the same way on macOS, Linux, and Windows.

However, I have never seen this...

The HP resellers I contacted per telephone don't know if it works.

Moreover, I have found the following thread:

I am not sure if FireWire works on x360 13-ae525TU.
