Automatically - puts a regular vga driver
Manually - the driver is not installed correctly (without the catalyst control center)

Sometimes after installation, the blue screen 0x0000003b or 0x0000007e crashes, SO YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE DRIVER
Blue screen errors indicate files windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys

HP retired support for that model series since it is more than 10 years old, and the last driver I gave you was the one for the dv6-3100 model series with the AMD processors.

If you explore the file contents of the driver, you will find driver support for the graphics adapters your notebook has.

I think the problem you are experiencing is that the AMD Radeon HD 5650 GPU has been damaged through overheating during the years and can't handle any driver anymore.
