Hi @solutionhob,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the detailed info. Based on your HP Pavilion x360 14-ek0044 model and the error 0xA00F4244, here's a clear explanation and how to fix it:
Your laptop does have a built-in webcam, but it also includes a physical privacy shutter — a small camera cover next to the webcam lens. This is not a kill switch button, but a manual slider that physically blocks the camera.
When this cover is closed:
- The camera is not detected by Windows.
- You get the error: 0xA00F4244.
Steps to Fix the Issue:
- Locate the Camera Cover:
- Look closely at the top bezel of your screen.
- You should see a tiny slider or dot next to the camera lens.
- Slide it to the open position so the lens is visible.
- Restart the Camera App:
- Open the Camera app again.
- If the cover is open, the camera should now work.
- Check Device Manager:
- Press Win + X > Device Manager.
- Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
- If the camera is still missing, click View > Show hidden devices.
- If it appears greyed out, right-click and choose Enable.
- Update Camera Driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click the camera > Update driver > Search automatically.
- If no driver is found, try Windows Update.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

There is no camera slider or dot here and the windows update is not solving the issue but in the privacy settings, the camera is turned on and in the device manager, it is enabled.
