Hi @ARHowlettP,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The error 0xA00F4244 typically means that Windows cannot detect your webcam, either because the driver is missing, the camera is disabled, or the hardware is not being recognized.
Step-by-Step Fix for HP Webcam Not Detected
1. Check for Physical Camera Presence
- Make sure your HP notebook has a built-in webcam. Some models don’t.
- Look for a small lens at the top center of the screen.
- If there’s a privacy shutter, slide it open.
- Some models also have a keyboard key (like F8 or F10) to toggle the camera on/off
2. Enable Hidden Devices in Device Manager
- Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
- Click View > Show hidden devices.
- Expand Imaging Devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers.
- If you see your camera listed but greyed out, right-click and choose Enable.
3. Scan for Hardware Changes
If the camera is missing:
- In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
- If it appears, right-click and choose Update driver.
4. Reinstall the Camera Driver
If the camera was uninstalled or corrupted:
- Go to HP PCs - Troubleshoot the webcam (Windows 11 and Windows 10) | HP® Support
- Or use HP’s auto-detect tool: Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support
- If your model uses the HP Wide Vision HD Camera, it may reinstall automatically after a reboot.
5. Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes a power reset helps:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug all devices and power.
- Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect and power on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @ARHowlettP,
Thank you for sharing the details. It shows that the warranty has expired in October 2022 and is related to the Webcam driver. There is no specific driver available.
Please try updating the BIOS F.30 Rev.A and recheck once, and let me know

Hi @ARHowlettP,
Thank you for getting back to me and for sharing the screenshot that really helps. From what I can see, the BIOS can’t be installed directly. I’d recommend choosing the second option to create a USB drive and then use it to complete the installation on your PC.
For step-by-step guidance, here’s a helpful link that walks you through the process of installing from a USB: [HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) | HP® Support].
I hope this helps.
