For some reason, when I unplug the laptop from the charger, the display reverts to 60Hz, even though both Windows and the Nvidia control panel have the display set to 144Hz. It is very obvious that its not 144Hz looking at mouse and window smoothness, but I've also confirmed it using [content removed] which reports 144Hz with the charger plugged in, and 61Hz with it removed.
Things I've tried:
- Make sure Omen Hub is set to Performance and that auto switch to Eco is disabled
- Ensure Nvidia control panel is set to maximum performance with max refresh rate set on the internal laptop display
- Disable GSync for a fixed 144Hz refresh rate
- Removed Gforce Experience to make sure Battery Boost was not causing any issues
- Create a "High Performance" Windows power plan with all power saving features removed
- Make sure drivers and bios are up to date
The only thing I've noticed is that if I open a Youtube video in Chrome while running on battery, the display jumps to 144Hz, but as soon as its closed it will drop back to 60Hz. My first thought was Windows 11's variable refresh rate but this is disabled.
What am I missing to get the laptop display to stay at 144Hz all the time?
