I have a HP 15-dy1043dx laptop that I'm looking to run 2 HDMI displays off of. However, looking at the system specs, it says this
1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A (Data Transfer Only); 1 AC smart pin; 1 HDMI 1.4b; 1 headphone/microphone combo
Is it safe to say since the USB-A says Data Transfer only, I can't run a dock at all (USB A or USB-C) ?

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06655539
It ONLY has 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

Thanks, I was guessing that was the case on the USB-C for sure, but would any USB-A docking station work with dual display support ? I was confused by the Data Transfer only mentioned on the USB-A port as well in the specs.
